Vintage 1940's hand crafted thick cardboard puzzle titled "Chemist" featuring an image by Robert Thom. Robert Alan Thom
(1915 – 1979) was an American illustrator who specialized in the portrayal of historical scenes for commercial patrons. He is perhaps best known for his series of 40 paintings depicting the history of pharmacy, and his series of 45 paintings depicting the history of medicine, both commissioned by Parke-Davis. The  puzzle measures 16" by 12" and has approximately 186 interlocking pieces. The puzzle is missing one piece and one top edge piece does not fit well.  Otherwise the puzzle is in excellent condition.  The hand crafted puzzle is stored in a Christmas card box.  I have sold many puzzles from this maker; this is the only one that was cut from thick cardboard.
